    About Blue Bird

Blue Bird has been building school buses since the late 1920s, when company founder A.L. Luce built the company’s first bus. Since then, the Blue Bird name has become almost synonymous with school buses. In fact, in 1939, it was among the companies that helped develop the standard school bus yellow that’s still in use today.

The first buses from Blue Bird Body Co. had a wooden bus body, which was soon replaced by steel panels for greater stability and longevity. Other sizes, options, engines, and alternative power sources have been added through the years, including Blue Bird’s most recent work to develop a zero-emission, electric-powered bus. In 2015, Blue Bird became the first standalone school bus manufacturer to be publicly traded on NASDAQ.

Blue Bird has an international presence in more than 60 countries, with a reach that includes Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. It has also expanded its product line, adding luxury recreational vehicles for sale with its Wanderlodge (originally called Blue Bird Transit Home).

The manufacturer changed its name to Blue Bird Corp. in 1992 and today offers Type A, C, and D school buses and transit buses for sale under its Vision, Micro Bird, All American, and Sigma brands. You’ll also find used transit and school buses for sale under various now-discontinued Blue Bird model names. Blue Bird models are available for just about any use: school buses, activity/commercial buses, child care buses, specialty buses, and special needs buses.
