Kobelco’s extensive range of hydraulic excavators covers practically any need, with models from 1 to 85 tonnes (1.1 to 94 U.S. tons) of operating capacity and 7.7 to 257 kilowatts (10.4 to 345 horsepower). 

Its product line includes mini excavators with short tail swings and midsize models with offset booms that can work up against walls and obstacles. Kobelco also produces long-reach excavator models and large crawler excavators for heavy-duty jobs. Kobelco’s Integrated Noise & Dust Reduction Cooling System, known as iNDr, minimises the noise generation and dust intake from the engine’s cooling fan. 

Kobelco also offers specialist excavator models such as car dismantling and long-reach demolition machines. The SK140SRD-7 model excels at scrap processing and metal demolition. The SK210D car dismantler has clamp arms to hold the vehicle and a rotating nibbler for precise cutting work. 

Kobelco excavators also excel as forestry equipment with the right attachments and protective guards. Operations use Kobelco tracked processor/harvesters, Kobelco track log loaders, and Kobelco excavator mulchers for logging and timber applications. Founded in 1930, Kobelco introduced Japan’s first 50K electric mining shovel. The company remains headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, as part of Kobe Steel, a leading manufacturer of iron and steel.

Today, Kobelco Construction Machinery comprises numerous subsidiaries across the globe, including in New Zealand and Australia. In 2023 expanded its presence with the direct-to-market dealership, Kobelco Construction Machinery New Zealand. 

Based south of Auckland, KCMNZ provides excavator sales and aftersales service and support. This support includes factory-direct parts in a new National Parts Distribution Centre. Prior to this, Kobelco’s Australian dealership delivered Kobelco excavators to New Zealand customers through a dealer network. This network also included Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia.
