Meyer Farm Equipment began in 1944 as Meyer’s Machine Shop when Alvin Meyer began making and repairing equipment in Dorchester, Wisconsin. The company started by manufacturing and selling snow ploughs, farm wagons, grain elevators, truck racks, forklifts, and mobile homes. In 1951, Meyer patented a false-gate forage box, which was later redesigned into what the company notes was perhaps the first ever self-unloading forage box.
