New Holland Celebrates Production Of 30,000th Large Square Baler, A BigBaler 1290 Plus

If there’s a farm equipment manufacturer that growers associate with baler production, it’s likely New Holland. Founded in 1895 in New Holland, Pennsylvania, the company dramatically impacted the art of haymaking in 1937 when it unveiled the first automatic self-tie baler. Fast-forward to the present: New Holland is celebrating the production of its 30,000th large square baler. The BigBaler 1290 Plus unit rolled off the production line at New Holland’s Zedelgem Centre of Harvesting Excellence plant in Belgium where it develops and manufactures balers, forage harvesters, and combine harvesters.

A Rich Heritage

For the North American market, New Holland manufacturers round and square balers in the BigBaler High Density Series, the BigBaler Plus Series, the Roll-Belt Round Balers lineup, and the BC5000 Small Square Balers family, and also produces the RF Fixed Chamber Round Baler. The company entered the large square baler segment in 1987, and the BigBaler 1290 Plus is one of 10 Standard and CropCutter Plus models it offers in international markets.

New Holland has introduced numerous innovations to the large square baler sector over the years, including both SmartFill sensor technology for bale uniformity and IntelliCruise technology to enhance productivity and capacity for BigBaler Plus models. The BigBaler High Density lineup, meanwhile, ushered in the award-winning SmartShift gearbox and Loop Master knotting technology.
