Fendt Displaying 7th-Generation 700 Vario Tractors At Bauma 2022
Fendt is presenting the latest generation of its 700 Vario series tractors this week at the Bauma 2022 trade fair in Munich. The event, which runs through 30 October, attracts over 3,000 exhibitors from 58 countries and covers 200,000 square metres of covered space and 414,000 sq m of outdoor space. Fendt says the newest 700 Vario tractors are equipped with a new engine that produces up to 300 horsepower (220 kilowatts) and gives them travel speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph).
"Tractors can be used flexibly in different areas throughout the year,” says Fendt ISU Business Manager Thomas Steinheber. “They have already had a firm place in non-agricultural sectors such as industry, municipalities, or even construction for many years. The new Fendt VarioDrive drivetrain with the latest generation of our Vario transmission, the low-speed concept Fendt iD and the high degree of flexibility in the equipment form the basis for very high overall machine efficiency and productivity—whether in forestry, various construction sectors, or even in different contracting operations."
About The 700 Vario
The latest 700 Vario lineup has five models with power ranging from 203 to 283 HP (149 to 208 kW). The 728 Vario DP is equipped with the Fendt DynamicPerformance extra power concept, which releases up to 20 HP of extra power through a demand-dependent control system for a maximum of 303 HP. The 700 Vario has a low power-to-weight ratio that allows it to be versatile. It is equipped with a 7.5-litre, six-cylinder Agco Power Core75 engine whose aftertreatment system includes a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), diesel particulate filter (DPF), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to meet Stage V emissions regulations without exhaust gas recirculation.
The updated tractors also utilize Fendt’s VarioDrive transmission, which drives the front and rear axles as needed and pulls the machine into the curve while turning for a smaller turning circle with full tractive power and reduced soil compaction. The 726 and the 728 Vario can reach a top speed of 60 km/h at 1,450 rpm. The range-topping 728 Vario generates up to 1,450 newton-metres (1,069 pounds-foot) of torque at 1,300 rpm.
Increased Efficiency
The Varios benefit from the Concentric Air System ventilation and cooling concept, designed for low engine speeds and fuel efficiency in a compact construction. The high-performance fan presses cooler air into the cooler pack allowing fan speed to be reduced to use less drive power.
The VarioGrip tyre pressure control system increases tractive power by increasing the contact area with the ground. Air pressure is increased when travelling on the road to reduce rolling resistance and save fuel.
Personalised Settings
Operators can ride in comfort with six seat configurations, including a new premium seat with intuitive operation via the terminal to adjust the height and position and backrest angle. Drivers can create seat profiles to save their settings and activate them with a click.
New Optional Feature
Fendt says it will offer a new, optional trailer brake assistant at the end of 2023 that uses a sensor to measure the thrust torque of the trailer and activates the trailer’s pneumatic brakes if the trailer is pushing too hard.
