Great Dane recently hit a major milestone by producing its 125,000th refrigerated trailer. The Everest Single-Temp was built at the company’s manufacturing facility in Wayne, Nebraska, and was presented to Schuster Company, a longtime Great Dante customer since 1988 based in Le Mars, Iowa. A commemorative event held at the plant had several prominent people in attendance, including Dean Engelage, president of Great Dane, Steve Schuster, president of Schuster Company, Mayor Cale Geise of Wayne, and Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley.
Plant Details & Remarks
The Wayne plant, established in 1986, is a 257,000-square-foot (23,876-square-meter) facility spread across 83 acres (33.6 hectares) with close to 700 employees. It produces 5,000 trailers per year, and prominent customers include Sargento, Marten Transport, and Walmart.
The plant’s manager, Lee Byers, was also on-hand at the event to celebrate the achievement. “We’re extremely proud to reach this historic milestone here in Wayne,” says Byers. “It’s a clear testament to the high quality of the product we produce and to the spirit of the hundreds of hard-working craftsmen who build these best-in-class trailers for our valued customers.”
