Foodbank NSW & ACT has seen demand for food relief increase by 40% in recent years. To help distribute thousands of daily food relief orders, the organisation recently acquired a new Volvo FH Globetrotter. The FH is the largest vehicle in the fleet and, with its advanced fuel efficiency, is estimated to reduce freight costs by 10%, enabling more food to reach the people who need it. The truck has already delivered 1,000 emergency hampers and 6 tonnes of fresh produce to communities in Northern NSW that were impacted by recent floods.

“We're incredibly proud to partner with Foodbank NSW & ACT,” says Volvo Trucks Australia Vice President Tom Chapman. “Their vital work delivers essential food relief to Australians facing hunger daily, particularly in regional and remote areas. Volvo Trucks has a strong connection to Australia, with our trucks a familiar sight on roads across the country. This new Volvo Prime Mover strengthens our connection with local communities, empowering Foodbank NSW & ACT to double their fresh produce deliveries, while cutting freight costs.

“The Volvo FH Globetrotter is our flagship long-haul truck. Its advanced features are designed specifically for Australia’s demanding environment, making it the perfect truck for Foodbank to respond quickly to the needs of Australian communities.”

    About The FH Globetrotter

The spacious Globetrotter cab has room for two people with ample storage, a dual refrigerator, a microwave, and a comfortable bed. The climate system’s calibrated airflow keeps operators comfortable on the move. During rest periods, the I-Park Cool regulates the temperature using only battery power.

    Built For Efficiency

The LED headlamps and Camera Monitor System reduce drag and save fuel. Torque Assist uses smart sensors to monitor the typography to provide enough torque to maintain speed and optimise acceleration, saving up to 3% on fuel. Adaptive Cruise Control operates at all speeds, even down to a standstill, and restarts automatically. The I-Shift Dual Clutch switches gears while maintaining power delivery and is equipped with crawler gears to manage large loads without losing fuel economy. I-See enables the truck to optimise speed, gear changes, and coasting to match the upcoming topography.

    Enhanced Visibility

The Camera Monitor System expands the visual field around the truck. Night vision improves sight in the dark, and the surveillance mode enables operators to monitor activity around the truck when it is parked. Adaptive high beam improves vision at night by automatically turning high beam on and off as needed without the driver acting.

    Other Safety Features

Volvo’s Dynamic Steering helps ease driving and reduce the strain that comes with long hours behind the wheel. Side Collision Avoidance Support uses radar to detect and alert operators of the presence of other vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. When a driver activates the turning indicator, the passenger corner camera shows hidden angles of areas on the passenger side.
